Hardwood Floor Installation

Aside from being easy to install, hardwood floor are also beautiful, durable and elegant. That is why a lot of people are deciding to make use of hardwood for their floor. With the proper materials and simply learning the steps in doing the installation of hardwood, you should be able to install without having a lot of difficulty. If you are able to install your own hardwood floor, it would help you to save on the total cost of installation of your hardwood floor. Also, installing your hardwood floor will assure you that you will do your best to make it durable of good quality.

In order to be sure that you will be able learn the proper information needed in learning the basics about hardwood installation, it is significant that you do proper planning. By doing proper planning, you should be able to estimate the needed materials and make sure that they are available during the time that you need them and at the same time you should be able to measure the total area that you are planning to install with hardwood.

Here are the steps on how to install your hardwood floor:

-It is important that you prepare first the materials needed for your installation. Materials like masking tape, nails, hammer, measuring tape, notched trowel, hardwood flooring glue, hardwood floor strops, tapping block, 1/4" lauan plywood underlayment and safety glasses are the things that you need to prepare.

-Next thing to do is to prepare the area for installation. There might be a need for you to remove the previous flooring. After removing the old flooring, you have to make sure that the area for installation of your hardwood floor is free from dust and dirt or any other debris that could potentially ruin your installation. You also need to remove all appliances and furniture from room.

-To make sure that you new flooring will be free from gaps and will have a secure surface that will enable you to set the hardwood flooring properly, you need to install a sub floor.

-Using a red rosin paper is needed since it will serve as an under layer for your new hardwood flooring.

-You can then proceed to make exact base lines that will be used as guide for your hardwood flooring.

-Once the hardwood floor is installed, you need to sand the floor which is a tedious, boring and hard job. If you prefer to use a sander, it is necessary that you use eye protection. But it depends on you if you want to use some hearing protection as well since a sander can be noisy as well.

-Next thing to do is to get rid of some or most of the dust that the sander is not able to catch into their dust bag. This task can be done with the use of a window fan if you have one.

-Using an edge sander is necessary to finish the job properly. The edge sander will be used on the gaps on the wall where the sander started. To avoid the possibility of sticking out, you need to make sure that the sanding lines are going in the same direction.

Use of necessary protective tools, especially for beginners, is very significant to make sure that you avoid any untoward accident or injury during installation of your hardwood floor.
